Strawberry Moon 2018: Will June’s full moon affect your sleep?

This one is lasting longer than most, as the Moon will go into the darkest part of Earth's shadow.

It'll last for more than an hour seen from the UK.

The total lunar eclipse, which will last one hour and 43 minutes, is being touted as the longest of this century. The total eclipse that occurred back in January of 2018 was slightly shorter at 1 hour and 16 minutes because it the moon was just south of the center point.

The total lunar eclipse will follow the super blue blood moon of January 31, which too was a once-in-a-lifetime event when a supermoon, lunar eclipse and blue moon combine together at the same time.

First reported by express.co.uk, this blood moon is expected to to be visible across many parts of Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

But you may not need to repent and build your underground shelter just yet.

Conspiracy theorists and evangelical Christians fear the lunar eclipse which will take place on July 27 is actually a great big sign which shows humanity that doomsday is on the way. That's because some of the sunlight going through Earth's atmosphere is bent around the edge of our planet and falls onto the moon's surface.

The eclipse will begin at 7.30 pm UTC (12 am IST) and end at 9.13 pm UTC (1.43 am IST). Therefore, only red light, having the longest wavelength in the visible spectrum, travels to the Moon, and results in the Moon appearing blood red.

In Asia, Australia and Indonesia, the greatest view of the eclipse will be during morning hours. The peak of the eclipse will occur at 8:22 p.m. UTC.

The event itself will last almost 4 hours, with official estimates saying the eclipse alone will go on for about 1 hour and 43 minutes, according to a report by the Inquisitr. It will take nearly four hours for it to cross the Earth's dark umbral shadow.

Why Is This Particular Lunar Eclipse So Long?

When this happens, it causes the Earth's shadow to block the sun. During a blood moon, the moon turns from a deep red to orange colour rather than completely disappearing when it passes through the shadow cast by Earth.
