Second U.S. coronavirus case is confirmed in Chicago

Authorities in China have imposed indefinite travel restrictions on tens of millions of people across sevencities in an unprecedented effort to contain the spread of a deadly new coronavirus, as hospitals at the epicenter of the outbreak struggle to handle a surge in new patients.

Health authorities in the city of Hechi in Guangxi province said Saturday that a 2-year-old girl from Wuhan had been diagnosed with the illness after arriving in the city.

"It requires travel to China or being exposed to somebody who has been exposed to the virus or has infection with the virus", says Zervos.

The nationwide death toll has now jumped to 41, the government said Saturday, after 15 more people died in Wuhan. News reported the man fell ill after returning to his home in Washington State following a trip Wuhan, China where the first few cases were reported on Jan.17.

There is no known vaccine for the novel coronavirus.

The newly-identified coronavirus has created alarm because there are still many unknowns surrounding it, such as how risky it is and how easily it spreads between people. Shares in health care companies were down, along with those in financial institutions, airlines and other tourism and travel industry businesses.

The primary symptoms of coronavirus are high fever, coughing and difficulty breathing. The CDC said 11 of those cases tested had already come back negative. Ontario said it is now testing nine people. "And they will recover".

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Friday it had 63 patients under investigation, with two confirmed cases, both in people who had travelled to Wuhan.

Wuhan, where the outbreak began, is rapidly building a new hospital to cope with the influx of new patients. Anyone who has will be asked to speak to a border-services agent, who will ask additional questions about their health and, if necessary, provide them with transportation to a local hospital.

They were accepting donations of goggles, N95 masks, surgical masks, medical caps, gloves, hazmat suits, and surgical gowns, according to The Paper, a state-funded media.

Chinese media outlets said the new 1,000-bed hospital could be ready within six days.

"It'll be great just to be able to make it through (the outbreak)".

Health Minister Agnes Buzyn told a news conference these were the first two confirmed cases in Europe and that more cases were likely to occur in France.

She confirmed a third case, in Paris, later on Friday evening.

"We see how hard it is in today's world to close the frontiers".

"No one really knows what is going on or how long this will last", he said. Close contacts are deemed to be anyone who was within 6ft (2m) of the patient.

In the two confirmed USA cases, the travelers returned from China before symptoms emerged.

"We are expecting more cases in the USA and we are likely going to see some cases among close contacts of travelers and human-to-human transmission", said Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases.

The test results means there are now no cases of coronavirus in Quebec, said Horacio Arruda, Quebec's director of public health.

Elsewhere across China, authorities moved to halt the virus.

"We are looking at no confirmed cases in the Bay Area and we are screening and receiving and we have increased staffing", said Pan.
