Pruitt aide resigns after she describes personal errands

A senior aide wrapped up in the ethics investigations of Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt has abruptly resigned. "And you know, somebody has to say that about you a little bit".

Hupp told lawmakers that Pruitt had her conduct numerous personal errands, including inquiring about buying a used mattress. "Thank you very much, Scott".

Embattled EPA boss Scott Pruitt was reportedly asked to cut back on his office's use of a cramped White House dining hall after racking up hefty bills.

Late last month, the federal agency blocked reporters from several news outlets from attending a national summit where Pruitt was speaking.

Pruitt's office ordered up almost $400 worth of food in July 2017 from the Navy-operated restaurant, which, Politico noted, the former Oklahoma attorney general still frequents because the EPA doesn't have its own cafeteria. The EPA gave no reason for her departure.

That turned out to be Pruitt's desire to acquire a fast-food franchise for his wife.

Pruitt spoke Wednesday to a correspondent for Nexstar Media Group.

The reporter posted a video of the interview on Twitter. He adds that the country needs more Chick-fil-As and laughs.

Pruitt, in appearances before congressional panels this spring, has repeatedly blamed subordinates for his alleged ethical lapses.

Emails show that previous year Pruitt directed Hupp's younger sister, Sydney, also an aide, to reach out to Chick-fil-A to inquire about a "business opportunity".

Pruitt, the former attorney general of Oklahoma, suggested the unending stream of news reports about him and new federal investigations were political.
