Overwatch's anniversary event will bring new maps and dance emotes

In fact, some fans may even prefer this approach, as it will make all the new unlockable items a surprise once the One Year Anniversary event goes live.

In preparation for next week's Overwatch Anniversary event, worldwide Overwatch social media has been teasing new character skins, voice lines, emotes, and even arena maps that will hit the live servers on May 23rd.

The anniversary event will run from May 23 to June 12, along with a free trial from May 26 to May 29. Odds are these won't be the only skins added to the event, but they look cool as a teaser for what's to come.

As part of the celebration, Blizzard shared yesterday that gamers will be able to fight in three new maps.

Blizzard has also announced a special, European-led livestream that will feature many popular European Overwatch content creators. We felt like, for our first year, it was really important not to do that stuff.

It is now unclear if all the Overwatch characters will be getting their own dancing emotes, or if only these four characters will be getting them. "So I think we would like to do it at some point".

"For this free weekend, we're making Overwatch's full roster of heroes and maps available for play in a variety of modes, including Quick Play, Custom Games, and the latest Weekly Brawl", reads a Blizzard post. This means that the game can be downloaded for free by interested players.

The event will also coincide with a free weekend taking place across PS4, Xbox One and PC.

To kick things off, the European Overwatch twitter account posted a short video teasing some of the new Arena maps that will be coming to the game.
